Hello family and friends,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Wowwww a new year just started, I hope everyone enjoyed the celebration.
First of all I am changing the day that I will be sending my letter from Saturdays to Sundays. Saturday is my Personal Day, but I still have lots to do and learn on the computer. That even though when I am home I am still working. I am more comfortable with the programs and I am organizing in a way that I can find what I need much easier.
We really don't have holidays and sometimes weekends. Like I mentioned before, on Monday we had to take one missionary to get his Peruvian Passport, everything went fine until they asked to have a copy of the DNI (ID) and they couldn't make one for us. We had to leave the Mall where that office is and go in search of a bookstore, 3 blocks from there we found one, not such a good area because the streets were in a very bad shape due to the torrential rains, but I was ok, walking with 2 missionaries. And NO they couldn't make copies either. We almost had to go back to the office, but the next door store was a furniture store. I asked the person inside (thru a metal fence) if he could make a copy for us. He said NO, it was only a printer. I asked if I could send him a copy to his whatsapp and he finally said yes. Tender mercies!!! Besides that we would've had the passport done in 2 hours.
On Tuesday the 31st. We had transfers. It started to rain and we were under a big canopy, but the canopy was not rainproof. It still dripped through not as much bad enough to get so dirty with the dirt that was filtering with the rain. The Missionaries wearing white shirts were all dirty. I got a raincoat because when I was leaving the house, I noticed that it was starting to rain so I took my raincoat and I was so glad about it.
It is so hard for some of the Missionaries to go through the exchange. They have formed a special bond between them and having to switch companions sometimes it's hard.
I spent the rest of the day in the office doing paperwork. And the Urquizos were so nice to invite Pizza and the elders got wings for everyone. So we celebrated New Year's eve in the office. We left at 10:30 p.m.
On Wed Jan 1, the elder that got his passport, had to leave at 7:30 am and 2 of the missionaries from the office said that they would go with him, so I didn't have to go to the airport at 5 am, but still woke up at that time. Wonder why!!!
Also 16 missionaries arrived the same day, 9 Americans, and 7 Peruvians. Only one sister and the rest are elders.
We made the mistake of not checking the actual flight arrival time. Once we were there, we heard that the flight was delayed, but we didn't know which one. We thought that they were coming in 2 different flights. The Americans were supposed to arrive at 10:50 AM and the Peruvians were supposed to arrive at 11:30 AM. We got this information from two different sources, that is why we didn't realize that they were coming in the same flight. they actually arrived at 12:15 PM. We had to wait at the airport from 10:40 till 1 pm when they started to come out. When we tried to move the vans for later they couldn't because of other jobs. We were going to take moto taxis and the President, his wife and 2 elders went back home to get the 2nd SUV. All of a sudden a big traveling bus showed up and it was for us. The van company sent us the bus instead. Another tender mercy!
I was able to be a companion of the new sister missionary for just a bit (not to proselytize) while her companions for that night were coming to pick her up.
On Thursday each secretary had to do a small presentation of their job to the new missionaries. My part was about IDs necessary to be legal in Peru. I don't like to talk in front of people, and now I have to do it. After that, run to Interpol meeting 5 missionaries to get their interpol documents. Everything went smoothly.
Back at the office a lot of paperwork and also prepare everything for the following week.
I forgot to mention that there were a lot of fireworks on New Year's eve and I was able to watch them from my window.
I just came back from an office meeting at the mission home. The Urquizos are switching positions. They will go to help a small branch in El Alto, on the coast of Piura, I am kind of in the middle of the state. There are 2 Senior couples that will be coming soon. And my job just got increased. I am in charge of Travel, Migrations, Marriage (coordinate with couples that are living together and want to be baptized, they need to get married first, and help them with their paperwork)

who has the need of help from me.
I am missing 3 of my grandchildren receiving priesthoods, 1 Aaronic, and 2 advancing to Teachers. My heart and love goes to them.
