Fasting

How are you doing my family and friends:

I have been meaning to say that we are very spoiled, at least I have been very spoiled.  Having a washer and dryer in the house is the best thing ever.  Now I am half spoiled.  I have a washer and a laundry room where I can hang the cloth, but no dryer and guess what the cloth dries all wrinkled, so I have to iron all my cloth as soon as it finishes washing. So, ironing while it is still humid.. I am crying, that is one of the household chores that I don't like. Boo-hoo!

When trying to bake don't forget to check all your supplies before you start, Baking 101. I didn't, I forgot and I thought that I was missing sugar and asked my neighbor for some, she was very nice and helped. And when I was getting the flour out, I found more sugar and I was missing ½ cup of flour, but I didn't want t  o bother her again, so I ended up going early in the morning to the store, and baking them before I went to the office. The elders like them.

It is wonderful to work with the young missionaries, to listen when they testify or even when they joke around in the office.  It makes me feel young, but of course I still can be their grandmother.  I just heard today that one of the Missionaries from the office, Elder Thompson, has to switch with another Elder.  The other Elder is having physical problems with his knees and cannot do all the proselytizing so he will be in the office.  It is sad, you get used to them. We (everyone that works in the office) had interviews with the Mission President.  We stayed at the mission home until everyone had their interview and longer, sister Van Alfen (President's wife) made home made bread and cookies. Sooo good. 

My 15 going on 16 grandson was ordained a Priest today. I am so thankful for technology, I was able to be there through Whatsapp. So special! Where is the time going?  They are growing so fast.  Also my 16 year old grandson was ordained 2 weeks ago and he was able to be in the circle, I was not expecting that. AMAZING!

This week I was able to take 18 missionaries to do the Biometrics for the Carnet de Extranjeria.  Out of the 18, 4 of them also did Interpol the same day, we started with that and then we finished with biometrics.  It was stressing, because in order to make the appointment for biometrics you need to have the Interpol ficha, and you cannot do the appointment the same day, so I had to do it the previous day and I had to enter another document like if it was the Interpol ficha and the same day praying that will accept the exchange.  Because I tried it once before and it didn't work, I also was not fully prepared. This time I prayed all the time and I fasted, but drank water since I was going to be out in the sun and I didn't want to pass out from dehydration, the sun is very hot. And we were walking.  I sat outside under a shade surrounded by 12 missionaries while updating the documents in the migrations platform.  I was sooo happy that I fasted, it worked. I was able to make the correction through my phone, not an easy task, especially because the letters are tiny and you cannot enlarge them because the page will not work.  But we did it, and everyone was able to do the biometrics.  

Also the sister that was having so many issues with her documents, was able to pass biometrics, now she just has to wait to receive her carnet de extranjeria.  This was a very hard case, everything that can be wrong happened. Very frustrating.

We also had to rearrange some luggages at the airport.  The missionary had too much weight, and I was able to have the attendant accept the carry-on as a 3erd luggage and pass it as a courtesy.  He was soo happy he didn't have to pay for the 3rd luggage.

I went to el Mercado el Modelo, went to bookstores, thinking that I was going to find all the office supplies that I needed.  WRONG!!!  I was looking for labels, 2 different sizes.  An office tray to put, pens, clips, etc.  Small disposable scotch tape, and a couple more things. They don't know any of those things.  I finally found a page that is like the labels but I have to cut it to the sizes I need. The scotch tape I found in Dollar City and the tray in a supermarket are kind of like Walmart but more expensive and not exactly what I was looking for, but something similar.  Very frustrating! Don't take things for granted!!!

I have talked to 4 couples that want to get married, so they can get baptized.  Some of the paperwork is going to be challenging, they asked for a birth certificate and a certificate that the person is still single from the same city where they were born, and of course some have moved. They are no longer there; it could be in a different city or in a remote town. I also have a couple from Venezuela.  It is going to be something to get all those documents.  They also need a DNA test.  We will see how it works this coming week.
