Hello Family and Friends,
I keep working in updating all the paperwork for the missionaries. We are so close to finalized all the back paperwork that needed to be done. I also have been working in preparing the lists of the Missionaries that are leaving and the ones that are coming. I tried to be proactive and sent the list of the ones leaving to a person that I thought needed that information. I asked him if the format was correct or how he wanted. Instead of answering me back he sent a message to my President, telling him that I was the first secretary that has contacted him directly and that I didn't need to send that list to him. Apparently, he doesn't want any contact with anyone but the Mission President. My President laughed at it and said that he is very peculiar.
I met the sister missionary that came on Jan 1 and her companion at Interpol. We might have broken the printer from Interpol, we didn't touch it, but since I have been taking so many missionaries, the poor machine said THIS IS IT. Last week when we were finishing the last one of the week, the printer made a loud noise and stopped working, so the lady had to finish printing in a printer from another office. And today the printer doesn't work at all, so now it is taking much longer to do all the documents. She has to go to another office to get them printed. We had to wait for an extra hour so she could have everything ready. After that we went to MAC to do biometrics. This time I felt the heat of the sun, it was strong. I don't have a hat, I was about to buy one before Christmas and because I am not used to wearing one, I thought I was not going to use it. But I needed it today. After she was done, I started to ask for 8 Carnets de Extranjeria. I have taken all those passports and a "Carta de Poder". It is like a power of attorney, but without the attorney involved. It is just a letter that the person signs and puts a fingerprint on and gives authority to another to pick up the carnet de extranjeria. And guess what, after all that one of the ladies said that I couldn't pick them up, that each person has to do it, because they have to do the biometric of his pointer finger and I couldn't do it for them. I was upset, because they have told me before that with that letter they can release them. So now I have 26 missionaries that have to go to pick up their document in person.
The President and his wife visited us today for a little while. And he asked me to take some more responsibilities. I understand that he needs to start releasing the Elders from the office, so now I am also having to help with the exchange of missionary companions that happens every 6 weeks, and with Hotel reservations for the ones that are leaving and coming. They need a 1 night hotel stay.
3:30 am I walked up with a headache, kind of a migraine headache. Not good, I think it could've been the heat of the sun from yesterday. I was drinking water, but I guess I needed to get my head wet. I was not able to go to the office today, The Elders brought me some Gatorade and I asked them to give me a blessing. I spent most of the day sleeping.
Back to the office. I actually missed it. I am glad to be back. I had to run to drop an envelope at the courier place. Since I was so close to the Open Plaza, I ended up going there and getting a few things for the office. After I was back, one of the Elders that needed to pick up his Carnet de Extranjeria arrived at the office for some supplies, so I asked him and his companion if they had time to go to MAC, and they said yes. So we did, 1 done, and 25 to go.
I was able to work some more on the couples that need to get all their paperwork in order, so they can get married. In some cases it is kind of hard to get the birth certificate, Not all of them are in the main platform, some are still in the city hall where the person was born and some of those are in small towns. We are also working with a Venezuelan couple, and they need their birth certificate, but there is no diplomatic relationship between Venezuela and Peru right now, so there is no Venezuela consulate and it is so hard to get the necessary documents. We are still trying to see what we can do. I found a company in Venezuela that might be able to help. We are waiting on answers.
Whaaattt??? It is February. Where is the time going? On Sunday I volunteered to make 4 lunches for a service project that the brethren were doing. They were installing a roof on a member's house. There were going to be 15 people working there, and they needed meals. I am not talking about sandwiches, here lunch is a full meal. I am so glad that I made a lot of food, because I was able to send 6 meals. They had 20 people instead of 15. When the bishop, his wife (she was also making 6 meals) and 1 of the counselors came to pick up the food, they said that it was very close to being finished. They came around 12:15. They have been working since very early. Amazing.
In the afternoon, I went to the market to look for a hat, and I found one. I hope it helps with the sun. And I was reminded that stores here are more concentrated in school supplies, and it will get worse as March approaches, because that is when the School year starts for the children.
Fasting and testimony meetings are always very good. The testimonies were uplifting. And we went over for 10 minutes.
